The Hodad’s Foundation
Presents
YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Suicide Prevention Run and Mental Health Fair
Starting at 8am
WHATS GOING ON?
At 8am on September 15, 2024 we will be Running and Walking a 4.5 mile course through our beautiful community of Ocean Beach! Alongside the run/walk we will host a Mental Health Fair in the Hodad’s Parking Lot that also starts at 8am! This event is free to the public.
The You Are Not Alone campaign aims to become a platform that supports those traumatized by the deaths of loved ones and also those who are currently suffering from anxieties, depression or self harming thoughts!
We want you to know that you MATTER and that You Are Not Alone! We are all in this TOGETHER!
Our intentions are to unite Ocean Beach and the surrounding areas, in this campaign highlighting Mental Heath and Suicide Prevention.
Who is this for?
This is an event to show those who are suffering in silence that they are not alone.
It is for the family and friends who have loved ones that have committed suicide or overdosed.
It is for those who are still suffering from suicidal thoughts and tendencies that need encouragement to keep moving forward.
It is for our first responders who are faced with traumatic situations on a daily basis.
We see you and salute you, You Are Not Alone.
This is for EVERYONE dealing with trauma.

A Word from the Bowers family
My son, Ryan was an artist, musician and his first love was skateboarding. He loved Ocean Beach and Ocean Beach loved him. Wherever you saw him, his energy was contagious and he could make everyone laugh!
In 2016, Ryan suffered a breakdown and at that time was diagnosed BiPolar. Sadly, on July 18, 2020 we lost Ryan to suicide.
We are honoring Ryan’s memory by creating the “You Are Not Alone” Run-Walk supporting Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.
Our mission at the Ryan Bowers Foundation is to end the stigma of mental illness and let those who are suffering know that there are a variety of resources, alternative therapies and caring people that are available! Truly, “you are not alone”.
If this reaches just one person, then we are a success! I will be available at this event for anyone who wishes to learn about our family’s journey with Ryan.
Love and Light
Victoria Bowers
